Project Description
EWMI is currently providing technical assistance under a major capital markets technical assistance project in Romania funded by USAID. This three-year project seeks to close down the RASDAQ stock exchange, a market created with USAID financing. The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) has proven to be the more viable stock exchange and RASDAQ companies that are viable will be de-listed and listed on the BSE. In addition, the project seeks to create new corporate and government debt instruments that may provide new sources of capital, and stable domestic fixed income investments that may support other financial sector reforms, such as the development of a private pension system.
