The Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), established in 1993, is part of the Inter-American Bank Group. MIF's goal is to develop broadly based growth and improve economic prospects through private sector development. Using both grant and investment mechanisms, MIF undertakes small, targeted development projects in partnership with business groups, NGOs and public sector entities to build the capabilities and skills standards of the workforce, broaden the economic participation of smaller enterprises and strengthen the environment for doing business. MIF is also the major source of technical assistance grants for micro and small business development in the Latin American region.

Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), the Netherlands' agency for bilateral aid, provides assistance to the financial sector, with a focus in promoting the development of financial institutions, mortgage financing, capital markets, micro-finance and small and medium enterprises. FMO provides the most significant form of Dutch aid to the financial sector, with assistance to 40 countries and a majority of projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Netherlands Financial Sector Development Exchange (NFX) is a public-private platform set up by Dutch (commercial) banks and Dutch government. It aims to make Dutch financial sector expertise available to counterparties in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe by matching the need for expertise with know-how from Dutch banks. The partnership focus is on building local capacity through technical assistance, training, studies and dissemination of best practice. The overall goal is to create more inclusive and diverse local financial markets.

Minbuza provides assistance to the financial sector under the broad theme of business sector development. Priority countries include Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Macedonia, Mali, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen and Zambia. Minbuza also provides substantial assistance to Egypt, South Africa and Indonesia.

The Singapore Cooperation Program (SCP) was established in 1992 under the Technical Cooperation Directorate of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs. SNV Netherlands development organisation is a development agency based in the Netherlands, and is dedicated to providing technical assistance and capacity building in West Africa, East and Southern Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Balkans. SNV supports providers of micro credit and venture capital, which help small and medium-sized enterprises in improving their market position. SNV puts emphasis on “driven capacity development.” By giving advice, SNV strengthens the capacity of individual organisations to become self-sustaining within a limited timeframe.

Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) is Sweden's bilateral development assistance agency. SIDA provides aid to the financial sector under the broad scope of promoting services for the poor and the development of small enterprises. SIDA assistance towards financial sector development is directed towards building the necessary legal and regulatory environment, assisting in the development of financial markets and financial institutions, and building monitoring capacity for the prevention of financial crises. SIDA provides assistance in a wide range of countries, with a focus on Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) is part of the Swiss Federal Department for Economic Affairs, and is responsible for economic and trade policy measures and financial cooperation. The Department for Development and Transition within Seco is involved in providing assistnce to developing countries, with the broad goal of promoting the market economy and increasing the mobilization of private resources. Seco's financial sector support is concentrated in establishing healthy and efficient banking services sector. Seco works with central banks and governments, to assist them in improving the judicial framework and surveillance of the financial sector and to strengthen commercial banking institutions. Seco is also active in micro-finance and SME development.
